Senior Project Information

Project Objective: The Preston High School Senior Project is a cumulative activity where students devise, execute, document, and formally present a multi-disciplinary learning experience. Successful completion of the project is required for graduation.

*Most senior project questions can be answered by watching the tutorial videos below. 

Summary of Steps to Get a Project Approved:

  1. Watch the tutorial videos (parents must watch 1-3) on the school website.
  2. Submit the “Parent/Student Pre-Project Understanding and Verification” form.
  3. Identify your topic and come up with a cross-curricular learning plan.
  4. Have a planning meeting with a project supervisor (Sessions, Swainston, Jones, Harris).
  5. Complete and submit the “21-22 Senior Project Activity Proposal” form.
  6. Complete requires revisions if necessary.

Important Dates:

September 30th, 2021 = The last day to get full credit for Parent/Student Pre-Project Understanding Form, Conference with a Project Supervisor, and 21-22 Senior Project Activity Proposal form.

*Note: The following progress check dates may be earlier. Students will complete the checks on a day scheduled by their English teacher. The day scheduled by individual classes will be the due date. Students who do not have an in-person English class at PHS will need to schedule their own check date and time. These can be done via Microsoft Teams. 

October 21st, 2021 = The last day to receive full credit for Progress Check #1 - Students will meet with a project supervisor and show 7 completed and well documented work hours (documentation must be in the students project binder). 

January 20th, 2022 = The last day to receive full credit for Progress Check #2 - Students will meet with a project supervisor and show 14 completed and well documented work hours from at least 3 areas (documentation must be in the students project binder). 

March 17th, 2022 = The last day to receive full credit for Progress Check #3 - Students will meet with a project supervisor and show 20 completed and well documented work hours from all 4 areas (documentation must be in the students project binder).

April 19th, 2022 before 8 AM = The finished project portfolio is due to the library for evaluation.

April 28th, 2022 = All seniors are to perform their formal project presentation to school judges.
